For conflict theory, the basic insight is that human beings are sociable but conflict-prone animals. Why is there conflict? Above all else, there is conflict because violent coercion is always a potential resource, and it is zero-sum sort. Conflict theory. Conflict arises out of inequality in the society. Inequality may be social (caste, gender, religion, etc.); may be political (unequal power distribution); and economic (unequal material distribution). Conflict theories are perspectives in social science which emphasize the social, political or economic inequality of a social group. Therefore, they put forward conflict theory as an independent paradigm of sociological theory with a distinct focus on phenomena of power, interests, coercion, and conflict. Basically, conflict theory assumes that societies exhibit structural power divisions and resource inequalities leading to conflicting interests. A good deal of sociological theory has aimed at accurately conceptualizing the relationship between social structure and the agency of the human subject. For the most part, this exploration has taken place within two distinct but interrelated realms. Working within one realm, theorists have sought to explain the material basis of "objective" conflict theory Quick Reference Conflict has always been central to sociological theory and analysis. Some of the earliest approaches included Ludwig Gumplowicz's theory of ethnic conflict and Gaetano Mosca's theory of conflict between elites and masses. Many have seen Marx's theory of class as providing a conflict theory of social change. View Max Weber Authority.pdf from SOCI 3103 at Columbus State University. The implication of this theory is that those in possession of wealth and resources will protect and hoard those resources, while those without will do whatever they can to obtain them. Weber believed that conflict over property was not limited to one specific scenario. Rather, he believed that there were multiple layers of conflict existing at any given moment and in every Conflict Theory Expanded by Mark Weber. Though Marx is most often given credit as the "father," or at least "a father," of social theory and communism, he was not the only one who dedicated his life to it. German philosopher and economist Max Weber (1864-1920) agreed with the social conflict theory, but he wished to expand it. Max Weber is among one of the founding fathers of sociology. He pioneered and presented the theory of rationalization. Rationalization refer to the formal rules regulation and procedures. He believed that societies evolve due to the advancement of science, technology, expending capitalism and bureaucratization as well as, advancement such as contrary, like most Conflict theorists, Weber analyses the nature of human consciousness within a structural context - he may have come to different conclusions to Marxist Conflict theorists, but he appears to have more in common with the latter (in terms of his central sociological concerns) than with Interactionist perspectives. Weber's overall theoretical perspective was that i
