H-Bridge heating up

Hi guys, I need some help
So apparently I can't use the H-bridge IC anymore
I want to drive the motors with 12V but the PIC only outputs 5V right?
My H-bridge is heating up A LOT and I don't know how to fix it
I'm following this schematic,

did anyone else have the problem of heating up a lot?

If it heats up a lot, the transistor is burning. Check your connection. Try it on breadboard first. Check the schematic provided on textbook page 6-16, the one on the left. Make sure you're using 147s and 142s as opposed to 117s and 112s
